I was afraid to do that because I thought I'd need the Internet for research (I think my brain just really wanted to play), but I think I might try it next time.Jennifer Wilckhttp://www.jenniferwilck.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2999125118927001112.post-59126847841530011742011-09-14T13:41:43.393-07:002011-09-14T13:41:43.393-07:00Sorry for being late to the party this week, ladie...Sorry for being late to the party this week, ladies. (And no, I haven't been procrastinating, it's just been a busy week!)

The Internet is often the death of me when I sit down to write. I think...okay, I'll check e-mail, post on a couple of blogs, and then get going. Trouble is, I tend to get side-tracked with those other things, and nothing gets done on the writing side of things.

When I finally came out of the dark ages and purchased a lap top, I designated it for writing only. I purposely didn't put virus protection on it so I can't access the Internet. It's a writing only tool, and has been a valuable strategy for getting things done.Debra St. Johnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07154130275058459169noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2999125118927001112.post-14238340362203505462011-09-13T08:35:29.603-07:002011-09-13T08:35:29.603-07:00Jenn, it doesn't sound like you have time to p...Jenn, it doesn't sound like you have time to procrastinate! I'm not a professional writer--yet--but I plan to get there I just have trouble squeezing in any time to devote to the novels I've started.

I find that I have a pretty full life right now. Work, Homeschool, house, 5 kids, and FB to attend to. How did that become a priority? LOL? But one day, when the kids are grown--I do plan to write out these novels I've started. I would love to make time now--but I feel I'd be missing the best part of life. Until then, I blog and fiddle--and get up the nerve to put my work out there!

Great post by the way! I made to-do lists, and I did them, often well ahead of any deadline.
With retirement came the art of 'never do today what you can put off until tomorrow' - so now I procrastinate in real life as well as with my writing.
I don't participate as much in the loops as I feel I should (by the way, I get the digests and not individual emails from these), but I do enjoy the FB writing groups (even though my contributions tend me spasmodic). As you say, social networking is part of marketing and getting your name know.
And how's this for an excuse - I try to kid myself that playing Pyramid Solitaire is my 'thinking time' - hah!
The only consolation seems to be that most writers are procrastinators. I used to think it was just me!Paula Martinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10040623635956769807noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2999125118927001112.post-22129274266064248442011-09-12T08:35:14.115-07:002011-09-12T08:35:14.115-07:00Ha ha, Francine!Ha ha, Francine!Jennifer Wilckhttp://www.jenniferwilck.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2999125118927001112.post-25002126655367475692011-09-12T07:41:53.126-07:002011-09-12T07:41:53.126-07:00Hi,
