Jennifer talks about her first book hero...
Gideon is the hero of the first romance I ever published, AHeart of Little Faith. He’s the first hero of mine I ever fell in love with and
even now, several years and more polished writing skills later, he’s still my favorite
(although Dan, the hero in my current WIP is turning into a close second).
He’s hard on the outside—proud, stubborn and independent—but
soft inside. He’s a sucker for kids and is fiercely loyal to his friends and
sister. And he’s the first to offer anyone help who needs it.
Burned by a woman in the past, he’s hesitant to let himself
fall in love again. When his boss, who’s a force of nature and a frat boy
combined into one boisterous package, threatens to fix him up, Gideon knows he
has to do something, so he makes a bargain with the heroine, Lily. And, well,
things happen. J
I had a lot of fun writing this book. He was a complicated
hero to write, but he turned out well. If you’ve read it, I’d love to know what
you think.
Who are your favorite heroes to read and/or write?
Jamie Fraser in Oulander is one of my favorite, easy-to-conjure heroes.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love him!
DeleteDare I say Rhett Butler?(Gone with the Wind) This was one of the first books I ever read as an adult and it's always stuck with me.
ReplyDeleteLove him! It was the only book my mom was allowed to skip school to read.
DeleteThe first book hero I fell in love with was John of Gaunt in Anya Seton's 'Katherine'.
ReplyDeleteI fall for all my heroes, but, if pushed, I'd have to say Ross in 'Her Only Option' is my favourite.
Yeah, I really liked Ross. :)
DeleteI have to admit, I fall a little bit (okay, A LOT bit) in love with each and every one of my heroes. As I write each one, the current hero is usually my favorite.
ReplyDeleteRight now my favorite reading hero is Reyes Farrow in the "Grave" series by Darynda Jones. And I love each and everyone of the heroes in Julie Ann Walker's Black Knights, Inc. series.
Good choices. And I agree, I do fall in love with each of them as I create them.
