Lights, Camera, Action

I like to guess the dates of old movies, and enjoy watching commentary on vintage film. I enjoy romances most and don't mind watching good ones again and again.
Having to pick just  three, I hereby choose:
1. The Philadelphia Story, with Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant and Jimmy Stewart.
2. The Thomas Crown Affair, with Renee Russo and Pierce Brosnan.
3. Pretty Woman, with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere.

I hope to replace one of these some day with a film I write, that is directed by my daughter, who is already a good art director and producer, and who is believing in her talent for writing and directing more and more every day. Plus she knows good camera operators, crew members and editors. Films are collaborative projects.

  1. Must admit I prefer the original Thomas Crown Affair with Steve McQueen and Faye Dunnaway - that sexy chess game!

  2. I really must watch the Thomas Crown Affair! Is Philadelphia Story the original play/film that was adapted into the musical High Society?
Good luck to your daughter (and you) - look forward to seeing your first film!

  3. Oooh, I love all of these!

I have entire collections of Jimmy Stewart and Pierce Brosnan movies. Thomas Crown is one of my PB faves.

A fellow RWA chapter member does a great prgoram on using "Pretty Woman" as an example of how a love story should work. It's fabulous!

Good luck with your movie...that sounds like a wonderful goal!

  4. Hi Ana,

Ooh yes, all three and so many old B&W romance movies inclusive "Waterloo Bridge" starring Robert Taylor, and the movie with the famous beach clinch with Deborah Kerr and Burt Lancaster in the surf. Hell, I'd never have been able to select just three. ;)

  5. I love anything with Katherine Hepburn. I don't think I saw the Thomas Crowne Affair. These are good ones. Best of luck to you and your daughter!
