About this video
"www.middle-americans.com"

My home is now the 'hotel-restaurant-staging area' for the Middle Americans film shoot.  Between 6 and 11 cast and crew people will be here for ten days.

The script is printed and in binders. Wardrobe is organized downstairs by actor and episode. I've done what seems like a zillion washer / dryer loads of borrowed blankets.

I will have an on set view of kind of what it would be like to have a novel made into a movie--if I were allowed to retain creative control, which is unlikely unless my daughter produces and directs it. After I finish it.

  1. What fun! Maybe you can work a film shoot into one of your stories some day. It sounds like you'll be getting some real hand-on experience.

Cute video. The cat pencil sharpener was making me laugh! And I liked the badminton game in the snow...

  2. Sounds really exciting. I have a film shoot in one of my half-written novels, Ana, so I shall need your expert advice about it!

  5. Thanks, everyone. It's exciting to see how slowly a film shoot goes. Lots of standing around while cast and crew prepare. Then the asst director claps the clapboard, and the camera rolls. Again and again. Long takes, mid-takes, closeups. Actors do the same scene over and over. The the director (in our case, the director of the episode) says cut and wrap, and it's time to stand around while the camera is repositioned for the next scene. Fortunately, these first three days' filming is happening in a dingy bar in town. I had my first sex-on-a-beach last night. (Too sweet).
I have to bring dinner in for everyone in an hour. What should I order to drink?
