This will be my last blog post for a few weeks. My daughter
is entering the hospital for surgery and my attention will be focused on her
and her recovery.
I’ve spent a lot of time this past year learning to focus on
my writing despite what’s going on around me. Participating in last year’s 30K
writing challenge during the month of February taught me to prioritize my
writing and to write even when I wasn’t in the mood.
I’ve experimented with writing at different times of day and
among different distractions. I’ve learned to disappear into my writing when I’m
stressed and I’ve found that my characters can come alive and comfort me when I
need it.
I was filled with a renewed sense of inspiration by
participating in my writing chapter’s writer’s conference, and as a result, I’m
determined to finish my two manuscripts and submit them within the next few
months.
However, despite everything I’ve learned, there are times
when I need to put writing aside, and this is one of those times.
So thank you to my fellow bloggers—Paula, Debra and Ana—for understanding
and making it easy for me to disappear for a while. I’ll be back soon!
Family always comes first, Jen.
