Happy, Happy to Us!

We're celebrating our first anniversary here at Heroines with Hearts this week. I haven't been with the group since its inception, but I'm certainly glad to be aboard now! I'm really enjoying working with my fellow bloggers, Paula, Ana, and Margaret! So here's to us and many more years of partnership.

Of course a celebration isn't complete without presents, so I have one for a lucky guest. Leave a comment telling us about a memorable celebration of yours (birthday, anniversary, promotion, etc.) and you'll win a PDF of my new release This Can't Be Love when it comes out November 5. (Be sure to leave your e-mail addy so I can get the book to you.) We'd love to have you become a follower of our blog, too!

For me, a recent memorable celebration was my 40th birthday. I wanted to do something special, and I'm a huge Disney fan, so we decided a trip to Disney World was called for. We hadn't been there in forever, and I was really itching to go. While watching tv one night, I caught a commercial advertising free admission to Disney in '09 on your birthday. That clinched it. We were officially in.

From there, the stars aligned and everything fell into place. We had points on our credit card to pay for our hotel; my birthday was on a Friday and the flight schedule lined up perfectly with a Thursday afternoon departure and a Sunday afternoon return; my boss graciously gave me time off for the long weekend; and I had some royalty money to pay for a portion of the trip.

When I walked down Main Street toward Cinderella's Castle, I actually had tears in my eyes. It truly is a magical place.

So, now it's your turn. Share your stories of celebration. Anyone who comments will have their name put into a drawing for my new book. Good luck!

Until next time,

Happy Reading!

  6. What a great way to celebrate your 40th, Debra - Disney World is definitely a magical place! Both my daughters are Disney-addicts, and have been to Florida several times. They've also both done the Disney cruise in the last couple of years and are going again next year.

  7. Love the photo with that magic castle in the background!

One special occasion I remember is the first time I had anything come out in print. I had submitted a story to the Daily Herald. I was at work when I spoke to the community news person at the paper and she told me it would go in. That was years ago before any of my books were published, but I still remember the excitement.

  10. Congrats on the blogiversary, Debra! I had my first DisneyWorld experience this summer, and I know just what you mean about how magical it was near Cinderella's castle ;). For me, I'd dreamed of seeing Venice for YEARS before I ever actually got there. When my husband and I went to Italy (almost 20 years ago!) and I saw St. Marco's Square for the first time, that was a moment of discovery, wishes-come-true and celebration all in one...

Ah, Venice. That's also on my list of places to go some day. BTW, just finished "Friday Mornings at Nine". Loved it!

  15. Congratulations to all of you. I do enjoy your blog. One special event in my life happened just the past weekend. A group of friends and I spent three days in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. We shopped (one lady bought five pairs of shoes.), ate too much, and watched lots of chick flicks.

  16. Great cover, Deb! Your picture in front of the castle reminds me of our last trip to Disney - 2 years ago - with our granddaughters, their parents and the other grandparents! What a time we had! I have silly times, scary times, and we're over-tired and goofy times!
    Happy Anniversary!!

  17. Hi Elaine, Pigeon Forge sounds wonderful. Did you visit Dollywood? Is that even still there?

Hi DL, Ah, yes, the goofy memories at Disney are some of the fun ones, aren't they?
