Last year three dreams came true that were completely unanticipated at the beginning of the year – I actually met Martin Sheen which I never thought would ever happen, my novel was accepted by the first publisher I submitted it to, and I fulfilled a long-held ambition to visit the Valley of the Kings and the Abu Simbel temples in Egypt.
So maybe my ‘goal’ for 2011 is to seize any opportunities that come my way, whatever they might be. Who knows what dreams might come true this year?
Hiya! Thanks for stopping by, and I'll follow along here too. Those are very awesome accomplishments! And I totally agree with the short term goals idea. My challenge this year is "baby steps" toward my goals. Much more do-able than huge leaps.
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI guess Martin Sheen figures quite often as a hero within your mind! ;)
Wow! How lucky is that to secure a publishing deal with first publisher you submitted to. Any fairy dust still hanging round please blow it toward us who are still out in the cold.
Did the Valley of the Kings inspire the muse within, and is your next novel likely to air toward hot sands and a desert prince, or does a hunky Egyptologist fit the bill?
Sieze, grab, even kidnap opportunities if so much as a tempting propostion dangles before you. :o

Hi Mysti, thanks for visiting us! Baby steps are right, big goals can be over-facing.
ReplyDeleteAnd Francine, how DID you guess about the hunky Egyptologist LOL - he was 'invented' as I cruised down (or was it 'up') the Nile!
And yes, he's an archaeologist in the Valley of the Kings.
Hi Mysti,
ReplyDeleteI think we must have cross-posted! Good to see you here, and "baby steps" are not such a bad idea. The only step I've made this year is along a lit agent's path: the door probably heavy with multiple padlocks! ;)
Hee hee, Paula. Hedged my bets - one or tother. After all, Hercule Poirot detective types are not terribly sexy! :o

Seizing the day is awesome!
ReplyDeleteAnd what great things you accomplished in the past year. I say keep that streak going...
Good luck!
We'll help each other take the next baby step. And the next. And the next...
ReplyDeleteDeath on the Nile's been done, Francine. Working title for the hunky archaeologist is Romance on the Nile LOL
ReplyDeleteYes, 2010 was a good year, Debra! Except that my longed for trip to the Grand Canyon and Vegas had to be cancelled - twice! But when one door closes, another opens!
Taking baby steps at the moment with 'Measure of Love' - as you know, Ana!
I'm going to have to contact you offline as we have the opportunity to go to Egypt in February (I'm sooooo excited) and would love a few tips for the travel.
